Let me be your Shield.
My heart can take more pain.
It's had much more practice,
See, it can be fixed again.
It may look patched and tattered,
Barely beating on,
But I promise you, my friend,
it's still going strong.
I can spare my strength,
You need it more than I.
You've been through so much
I can't bear to hear you cry.
I know you tried to save me
From more than I will know,
but please don't ask me, now or ever,
to simply let you go.
So let me be your Shield,
And you can be my heart
I'll protect you from the world,
Please don't let me fall apart.
